How to fix common API connection errors with Notion

Common API Errors

Error: “Invalid API Token”

This means your Notion connection has expired or been revoked.

Solution:

  1. Disconnect from Notion in extension settings
  2. Reconnect and re-authorize
  3. Select your database again

Error: “Database Not Found”

The selected database may have been deleted or you’ve lost access.

Solution:

  1. Check if the database still exists in Notion
  2. Verify you have edit permissions
  3. Select a different database in extension settings
  4. Try refreshing the database list

Error: “Rate Limit Exceeded”

You’ve made too many requests to Notion’s API.

Solution:

  • Wait a few minutes before trying again
  • Reduce batch export size
  • Contact support if issue persists

Error: “Network Error”

Connection to Notion API failed.

Solution:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Verify Notion is accessible (visit notion.so)
  3. Try again in a few moments
  4. Check browser console for detailed errors

Error: “Authorization Failed”

Notion authorization is invalid or expired.

Solution:

  1. Open extension options
  2. Click “Disconnect from Notion”
  3. Click “Connect to Notion” again
  4. Complete the authorization flow

Gemini-Specific Errors

Error: “Not on Gemini page”

The extension can only work on Gemini chat pages.

Solution:

Error: “Failed to fetch conversation”

The extension couldn’t retrieve the conversation content.

Solution:

  1. Refresh the Gemini page
  2. Wait for the conversation to fully load
  3. Try exporting again
  4. Check browser console for errors
