Notion API Errors
Resolve authorization, destination, rate-limit, and upload API errors reported by Claude to Notion
Claude to Notion 4.0 shows the failed conversation, processing stage, and original API error in the run details. Check those details before retrying.
Invalid or expired token
The Notion authorization may have expired or been revoked.
- Reconnect Notion from the popup or Sync Center.
- Approve the intended workspace and destination again.
- Refresh the data-source list.
Object or data source not found
The selected destination may have been deleted or removed from the integration’s access.
- Confirm the destination still exists.
- Check that your Notion account can edit it.
- Use Add Notion access to share it again.
- Select Refresh list and choose the destination.
Rate limited
The exporter paces long runs and writes content in batches, but Notion can still ask the client to slow down.
- Let the current retry complete.
- Avoid running another large sync at the same time.
- Retry only failed conversations instead of restarting the complete archive.
File upload failed
Open the failure details to identify the affected file. Source availability, network errors, file type, and Notion upload constraints can affect individual attachments. A readable text attachment may be preserved in a linked child page when direct upload is not possible.
Report an unresolved error
Copy the sanitized developer report from the failure details and send it to chatgpt2notion@gmail.com. Include what you attempted and whether retrying the same conversation changes the result.
For non-API issues, see Troubleshooting & FAQ.
